The most interesting part of WordCamp 2007 was Matt Cutts’s presentation. Here is a summary with 15 tips.

1. Don’t put your blog at the root of your domain.
2. Name your directory ‘blog’ instead of ‘wordpress’.
3. In URLs, no spaces are worst, underscore are better, dashes or hyphens are best.
4. Use alt tags on images: not only is it good accessibility, it’s good SEO.
5. Include keywords naturally in your posts.
6. Make your post dates easy to find.
7. Check your blog on a cell phone and/or iPhone.
8. Use partial-text feeds if you want more page views; use full-text feeds if you want more loyal readers.
9. Blogs should do standard pings.
10. Standardize backlinks (don’t mix and match www with non-www).
11. Use a permanent redirect (301) when moving to a new host.
12. Don’t include the post date in your URL.
13. When moving between hosts, wait until Googlebot and traffic begin to visit the new host before taking down the old one.
14. If using AdSense, use target section.
15. Use FeedBurner’s (now) free MyBrand feature to take control of your feeds

The best way to attract visitors to your site is through content. If your content is not interesting and useful, it will be more difficult to attract visits, and, if you have ads on your site, even more difficult to get clicks on them.

Good content is a sure way of getting better revenue and through the years it has become much easier to provide quality content.

The traditional way to create content is writing it yourself. If there is a subject that you know a lot about, you will surely be able to write content about it for your site.

However, there are many other ways of providing content for free

1. Blogs - Writing a blog is fairly easy, and they are regularly updated. You can create a blog at http://www.blogger.com or have a blog on your site to write about news and updates.

2. Volunteer writers - Another option for content is to have people write articles for free. Many people like to write, you can see this on any site that has comments that may be added. These don’t receive any payment for what they write, they just do it for the fun of it, or to express themselves.

3. RSS feeds - There is a way of getting lots of content for your site for free: with Syndicated articles, also known as RSS feeds. There are many writers that want to see their work published so that they can start getting recognition. This creates a writer-publisher relationship through which both can benefit. The writer gets exposed to lager audiences, and the publisher, that is you, gets quality content for the site.

Note that the down side of adding RSS feeds to your site is that when a visitor clicks on a feed on your site, he leaves your site and is sent to the site that generates the feed.

4. Articles in your site – Articler.com has released a script that allows you to receive articles daily on your site for free, with the advantage that when a visitor clicks on an article to read it, he doesn’t leave your site. The articles of the topic of your choice are retrieved from Articler.com’s site and posted on your site for visitors to read. 7. Reviews – You can create a review section on your site where visitors can write about products or services of their knowledge. By doing so, each time you add a new product or service to be reviewed, fresh content will be added by the site’s users.

8. Press Releases – A press release is an effective way to promote your site. You can also post your press releases on your site together with other press releases that are related to your site’s content. However, you must first visit the site that created the press release in order to learn if you can post their release on your site.

9. Games – Games are very popular, and many web surfers like to play frequently. You can find many online games that are free and available for your site. You may choose games that are related to your site, or just add an entertainment section for fun.
