Education is a fundamental right of every human being in India: Every child is entitled to free and compulsory education till the age of 14. Education is critical for our development as individuals and as well as societies, and it helps to pave the way to a successful and productive future. Education enhances lives. It ends the generational cycle of poverty and disease and provides a foundation for the sustainable development in the life. A quality education better equips the girls and boys with the knowledge and skills necessary to adopt healthy lifestyles, protect themselves from HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases, and take an active role in social, economic and political decision-making as they transition from adolescence and adulthood. Educated adults are likely to have fewer children, to be informed about child-rearing practices and to ensure that their children start their school on time and are ready to learn.
In addition, a rights-based approach to education can address some of societies deeply rooted issues with inequalities. These inequalities condemn millions of children, particularly girls child, to a life without quality education and, therefore, to a life of missed opportunities. Too many of the worlds children are out of school and dont receive any education. Each one of these children has dreams that may never be fulfilled, potential that may never be realized due to they dont have education. By ensuring that every child has access to quality learning, we can lay the foundation for growth, transformation, innovation, opportunity and equality.
The Indian government lays emphasis on free education till the child reaches the primary level up to the age of fourteen. The Indian government has also banned child labor in order to ensure that the children do not enter unsafe working conditions and should go to school. However, both free education and the ban on child labor are difficult to enforce as due to economic disparity and social conditions. 80% of all recognized schools at the Elementary Stage are run by government or supported, making it as the largest provider of education in the Country.
Though the number of literate people in India has increased from the last few years, but India still has the largest number of uneducated children in the world out of which two-thirds of are girls. Government reports show that 59 million children between 6-14 years do not attend school. Official information further indicates that just a little over one-third of all children who enroll in grade one reach grade eight. Last but not least, Education is very important for all of us, the fact which is commonly nothing to deny among any. Its the education which transforms a person to live a better life and more importantly in a socially well-being. It educates us with all the needed attributes in leading our life in a proper lifestyle. Education does make a remarkable effect on ones personality. Getting education and finally earning a professional degree prepares you to be a part and contribute in good organizations, companies or institutions. Education is the one tool which provides us with the thrust in getting ahead and doing something constructive in our near future.
