Marriage Counseling Cary Nc And Beyond
When speaking of marriage counseling, Cary NC residents often had similar questions about the process. One common question asked of marriage counselors (Cary, NC specific and elsewhere-- everywhere, really) was "what if my spouse does not want to come?" It is not uncommon for one party to be hesitant about going into counseling, and this may be for many reasons. Some people are resistant because they don't want to be put on the spot or asked to explain themselves, others don't think that counseling will help, some people have had unpleasant experiences with therapy in the past, etc. Fortunately for the other half, couples counseling, Cary, NC and beyond, is something that can be beneficial even if only one half of the couple attends. In the field, this is called "couples therapy with one partner present" and it is a viable way to help people change in their relationship. Notice the phrasing there- it says help people change it their relationship, not help people change their relationship. You see, with one person present the focus will (or should) be on that person's part of the equation. Learning what they are doing, how that affects the other person, and how they might chose to behave as an alternative, is something that one person can do on their own. With these new tools in place, they can go home and show the other partner what changes they have made. That may just be the inspiration the other partner needs to join in on receiving couples counseling. Cary, NC residents are lucky to have the quality of care that is available to them in this field, as are residents of Cary and Apex who have such easy access to the very same care. In some cultures, there is stigma around those who choose to seek out therapy. That should never be the case. After all, the point of therapy is to help couples learn the tools they will need to have a healthy relationship with one another. Having a stigma attached to that is like having a stigma attached to the fact that most people need the help of a teacher to learn math. Instead, we should be embracing the fact that couples can enter counseling together to nurture and support their relationship. It is not easy to go through life together, why should we not all take the opportunity to learn whenever we can?
